Professor Isamu Akasaki

Prof. Isamu Akasaki (Meijo University, Japan ) passed away on April the 1st 2021. Prof. Akasaki (together with Prof. Amano and Prof. Nakamura) won the Nobel prize for establishing a new world of new optical materials using GaN blue LEDs . Prof. Akasaki also received the Laudise Prize in 1998 from the International Organization for Crystal Growth. His obituary will be published on the IOCG website soon. We are deep saddened by this news and we would like to express our deep sincere thanks to Prof. Isamu Akasaki for his great job.
